Frequently asked questions.

What is a wax melt?

Put simply, wax melts are scented pieces of wax. They can be used in both electric, and tea-light melters, which will gently melt the wax, releasing the fragrance. Wax melts come in various shapes and sizes and a huge amount of fragrances!

How do you use wax melts?

When melting our products, we recommend the following: -

Snap Bars - Melt 2 chunks / squares at a time

Sample Squares - Often given as freebies with each order, melt in one go

Depending on the size and depth of your melter dish, you can add more or less as required, just don’t overfill your dish!

Add the wax to your melter dish, light your tea-light, and sit back and relax.

How long do wax melts last?

When melted correctly, our snap bars will provide 60+ hours of fragrance, and our sample squares 12+ hours.

We would only recommend that our wax melts are melted with 4 hour tea-lights. The larger, 8 hour tea-lights, provide too much heat, melting the wax and releasing the fragrance too fast. The heat can also damage your melter, causing it to crack.

How do you change the wax?

There are many different ways to do this, but we find this the simplest…

Light a tea-light and allow it to melt the wax for approx. 30 seconds. At this stage you should be able to slip the melt disc out of the melter. Then take a piece of tissue or cotton wool and simply wipe / clean the dish. Add your new melt and enjoy. In larger melters, they may require a little longer than 30 seconds.

Never use sharp or metal objects to remove the wax.

Are your products vegan friendly & cruelty free?

They are indeed! We wouldnt have it any other way.

Why do you use soy wax?

Soy wax is much better for the environment compared to other wax types, and it is completely sustainable. Soy wax is plant based, rather than extracted from oil like other waxes. Once the soy is harvested, more can be grown again and again. Soy wax is biodegradable, clean burning, non-toxic, all-natural and burns for longer.

Why use glitters & mica?

Why not?

We use bio-degradable glitter made from vegetable starch that is plastic free, cruelty free and plant based. Our powders, used to colour the wax, are synthetic and aimed to replicate the effect and appearance of natural mica, whilst alleviating the negative or toxic minerals that can be found in some naturally occurring minerals, and also, the human rights conditions and concerns associated with some of the mining of natural micas.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes! Everything from our packing boxes, tissue paper, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, wax melt sleeves, wax melt pots, candle containers, and carrier bags are either recyclable, reusable or bio-degradable. Even our candles wicks are eco-friendly!

What is frosting on candles?

When the top or sides of the wax has a white-ish color coating, we refer to this as frosting. Frosting is a natural characteristic of soy, and it is one way that a customer can tell that their candle is really made with pure, all-natural soy wax.

What are candle ‘wet spots’?

A wet spot, which isn’t actually wet at all, refers to a patch on the glass that almost looks like an air bubble between the wax and glass. What in fact has happened, is the wax has pulled away from the edge of the glass as it has cooled. We do all we can to avoid this happening, but with soy being a natural was, it can, and does, occur. It does not affect the performance of the candle in anyway.

Why is my candle tunneling?

Tunneling is when the candle burns straight down, leaving a lot of wax around the sides of the candle container. To prevent this, on the first burn, always allow your candle long enough to burn, so that the wax pool reaches the edge of the container. This will set you up for a good even burn for the rest of the candle, and will ensure that all of the wax is used.
